The power of the Internet can be incredible in both positive and negative ways. Over the past few days, an unbelievably positive story has surfaced out of the U.S. about a homeless man who gave his last $20 to a young woman in need.
Pulled over on the side of Interstate 95, McClure, 27, was approached by a homeless man named Johnny. She was apprehensive at first, but Johnny told her to get back into her car and to lock the doors while he walked to get her help. He went to a nearby gas station, used his last $20 fill a can and brought it back to fill up her car.
McClure didn’t have money to repay Johnny that night, but she returned with her boyfriend and repaid the homeless man the next day, along with some warm clothing. She visited Johnny a few more times and saw what a good heart he had, so she decided to try and do a little more for him.
McClure set up a GoFundMe for Johnny with a lofty goal of $10,000 and a few ideas in mind. What happened next is the stuff movies are made of, as the story spread and the donations started to pour in. To date, over $300,000 has been raised for Johnny, who worked as a firefighter and paramedic and also served in the Marine Corps before he became homeless.
